BREASTFEEDING ADVICE | THE BOYLS BREASTFEEDING METHOD
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BREAST MILK?
Human breast milk is species-specific. That means it is designed for human babies. We are the only species in nature that gives our children another species' milk for food. Compared to cow's milk-based formula, breast milk differs markedly in many key ingredients such as protein, fat, and carbohydrate. The introduction of cow's milk based formula exposes a baby to foreign proteins, specifically those from cows.
ARE BOTTLES MORE CONVENIENT THAN BREAST FEEDING?
Let me give you an illustration. When your baby awakens for a feeding at night, if you are breastfeeding you will get up and pick up the baby (preferably in a basinet next to your bed), latch the baby onto the breast and feed the baby. If you are formula feeding, you will get up, go to the kitchen, find the can of formula, measure the proper amount of powder and water, mix it up, warm the bottle, and feed the baby.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO FEED MY BABY FORMULA?
Although not without cost, breastfeeding is much less expensive. All breastfeeding mothers should have a good breast pump. This may cost $150 to $300 depending on the pump you choose, but it is a one-time investment. In comparison, cow's milk based formula, which is the least expensive formula costs about $110 to $160 dollars per month, depending on how much the baby drinks.
